General Information: How it works
On your arrival day a representative from Costa Rican Trails will meet you at the airport and provide transfer to your hotel in San Jose which is already prebooked.
The next morning a Daihatsu Terios 4x4 is delivered to your hotel by the rental company. You will also have a briefing meeting at your hotel with an experienced English-speaking guide who will provide your accommodation vouchers, answer the questions you have about driving in Costa Rica, discuss your travel plans, etc.
Then you are off to explore on your own! You go as you please, choosing hotels and lodges from the category you selected. There are over 158 hotels in the three categories covering almost the whole country. You can stay as many nights as you like in each hotel. The only condition is that you book as you go, no sooner than the morning of the day before. When calling or checking in, you must identify yourself as a Costa Rican Trails client.
Day 1: Arrival - San Jose, Costa Rica
Meet & Greet at the airport. Transfer will then be provided to hotel. Overnight at hotel of your choice in San Jose (pre-booked). (Meal: B)
Day 2: San Jose - Flexi-Drive
Briefing at the Hotel and discussion of the best rout and choices of hotels. A Daihatsu Terios 4x4 will be delivered at the hotel and then you are off to explore Costa Rica on your own. Overnight at hotel of your choice.
Day 3 thru 7: Flexi-Drive
Drive through scenic Costa Rica and full-fill your desires and interests. Overnight at hotels of your choice. (42 hotels to choose from). (Meal: B)
Day 8: Departure
Drive to the International Airport. Drop off car and depart on your return flight.
