DAY 1 FLORES / CARMELITA / TINTAL CAMP
Depart from your hotel in Flores and transfer to the sleepy jungle outpost of Carmelita. Load the pack mules and begin your trek to El Tintal. Enjoy lunch on the trail. Later this afternoon, arrive at El Tintal where reconstruction of an AD600 site has recently been finished. Pass by the largest watering holes of this area. Overnight at Tintal camp. Hours on the trail: 5-6

DAY 3 EL MIRADOR
Explore the giant Mayan pre-classic city of El Mirador. Over 2000 years old, many archeologists speculate that El Mirador was the first major organized settlement of the ancient Maya and of the New World. The ruins are of such staggering size and proportion that they dominate more popular sites like the ruins of Tikal. Their enormity suggests that a city-state government ruled the area, thus negating earlier held theories that only warring chieftains dominated the pre-classic period. Among these buildings sit the temples of La Danta, the largest ever build by the Maya. And El Tigre with the marvelous stucco tiger face. Camp tonight in El Mirador
DAY 4 EL MIRADOR / TINTAL
After breakfast break camp and begin the trek back through the jungle toward El Tintal. Well leave early in the morning to ensure a full appreciation of the surroundings. Camp tonight at El Tintal. Hours on the trail: 7-8
DAY 5 TINTAL / CARMELITA / FLORES
Continue toward Carmelita, exploring nearby ruins enroute. Arrive Carmelita this afternoon and then transfer back to Flores and civilization where you can update your FaceBook status and download all of your photos from this amazing jungle adventure. Hours on the trail: 5
