Day 1: Wednesday, June 27, 2012
Salt Lake City/Kansas City/Independence
Depart this morning for Kansas City. This afternoon we’ll travel to Independence, MO. and visit the Community of Christ Temple and LDS Visitors’ Center. This evening we’ll drive to Liberty to visit the jail and Visitors’ Center. It was here during the winter of 1838 that the Prophet Joseph Smith was imprisoned for four and a half months and received the 121st and 122nd sections of the doctrine and Covenants. Overnight at the Holiday Inn Express in Kansas City. (D)
Day 2: Thursday, June 28, 2012
Richmond/Far West/Adam-Ondi-Ahman/Nauvoo
Following an early breakfast, we drive along the beautiful banks of the Missouri River to Richmond to see the Cemetery where the graves of the witnesses are located. We continue on to Far West to see the site of the temple and have a picnic lunch. Our next stop is Adam-Ondi-Ahman and then we’ll continuing on our scenic drive to Nauvoo. Overnight at the Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites. (B,L,D)
Day 3: Friday, June 29, 2012
Nauvoo
Today we will step back in time as we begin our tour of Old Nauvoo. Among our stops will be the Joseph Smith Homestead, Mansion House, gravesites of Joseph Smith, Emma and Hyrum, and the Red Brick Store. Next we’ll visit the Brickyard, Blacksmith Shop, Lucy Mack Smith home, Heber C. Kimball home,
and Wilford Woodfruff’s home. Tonight we’ll enjoy a musical production at the Cultural Hall performed by the missionaries. Overnight at the Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites. (B,L,D)
Day 4: Saturday, June 30, 2012
Nauvoo
We’ll begin our day with a morning temple session at the Nauvoo Temple. (Attendance at the temple is optional and subject to the temple schedule.) This afternoon we’ll drive to the Nauvoo visitor’s center and see the production by the church entitled “Remembering Nauvoo” and walk through the statuary park dedicated to women. Next will be free time to visit Riser Tin Shop, Scovil Bakery, Browning Gun Shop, Times and Seasons Print Shop, Brigham Young home and the John Taylor home. This evening we’ll enjoy the production “Sunset on the Mississippi”. Overnight at the Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites. (B,L,D)
Day 5: Sunday, July 1, 2012
Nauvoo/Carthage
Following Sacrament meeting we will see the Pioneer Cemetery and then depart for Carthage where we’ll view a production of the life of the Prophet Joseph Smith that is shown at this Visitors’ Center. Next we tour the jail itself where the Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were martyred. Following dinner we will walk the “Trail of Hope” and read exerts from the personal diaries of the Saints. Overnight at the Nauvoo Family Inn & Suites. (B,L,D)
Day 6: Monday, July 2, 2012
Hannibal/St. Louis
As we say our farewell to Nauvoo, we continue on to Mark Twain’s Hannibal on the Mississippi River where we’ll take a luncheon cruise on a riverboat. Following lunch, we’ll depart for St. Louis, MO for our afternoon fight home. (B,L)
