Come learn and experience the culture and customs of the modern and ancient people of Peru. You will hear of their legends and see how they relate to the peoples in the Book of Mormon. You will be amazed by the mysterious figures and drawings as you view the Nazca Lines. Daily Itinerary
Day 1:
Lima
Departing from the USA in the morning, we will arrive in Lima late in the evening. Upon arrival, we will transfer to our hotel and overnight in Lima.

Day 2:
Lima
Following breakfast, we will attend church and then a city tour of Lima where we will visit the Plaza de Armas and the Gold Museum. Later in the afternoon, we will visit the Lima Temple. Dinner and overnight is Lima. (B/D)

Day 3:
Lima • Caral
In the morning we’ll leave for Caral where we will see the impressive pyramids and the ruins of an ancient civilization which may be possible Jaredite Ruins. We will stay in Lima for the night.(B/D)

Day 4:
Lima • Paracas • Nazca
This morning we will travel along the Pacific coast to the seaside town of Paracas. From here we will transfer to the airport where we will take our airplanes to view the ancient drawings from the Nazca civilization. We will fly over the Nazca Lines which affords a spectacular view of ancient figures created in the desert by these early peoples. You will hear of the possible reasons for these drawings. The flight lasts 90 minutes. With the naked eye from the window of an airplane you’ll have a bird’s eye view of many of these famous and amazing figures - such a the hummingbird, condor, spider, monkey and the astronaut. We will overnight in Paracas (B/D)

Day 5:
Lima • Puno
In the morning enroute to Lima we will visit we will visit Pachacamac, the ruins of an ancient civilization (400 A.D) that existed centuries before the time of the Incas. Next, we’ll leave Lima and fly to Juliaca along the shores of Lake Titicaca. After arrival we will visit the graveyard of Sillustani, beautifully set on a peninsula in Lake Umayo surrounded by stark altiplano. The Chullpas (pre-Columbian funeral towers) were built by the Aymara-speaking Collas - a tribe that dominated the Titicaca region before the Incas. Each tower contained the remains of Colla nobility accompanied by their riches. The engineering involved in their construction is more complex than anything the Incas built.Overnight again in Puno. Day 6: Puno
In the morning we will visit the floating Uros and Taquile Islands on Lake Titicaca. The lake is the highest elevated lake in the world! These islands are made of reeds. The friendly local islanders will explain how their floating islands are constructed and show you the lovely handicrafts they make to support themselves and families. (B,L,D)

Day 6: Puno
Today we will have an extra day in Puno to help us get acclimated to the higher elevation in Peru. In the morning we will visit the floating Uros Islands on Lake Titicaca. The lake is the highest elevated lake in the world! The islands are made of reeds. The friendly local islanders will explain how their floating islands are constructed and show you the lovely handicrafts they make to support themselves and families. This will be a remarkable experience! (B,L,D)

Day 7:
Train to Cusco
In the morning we take a leisurely 10 hour train ride from Puno to Cusco. You will witness dramatic landscapes that are only spotted with small little Andean villages and the occassional herd of llamas and vicunas. We will overnight in Cusco with dinner at our hotel.(B/L/D)

Day 8:
Cusco
This morning you will take a city tour of downtown Cusco, the famous capital of the Inca Empire.We will see the remarkable archaeological sites such as Sacsahuamán & Tambomachay and the red fortress of Puca Pucara. Dinner is at our hotel in Cusco (B/D)

Day 9:
Sacred Valley • Machu Picchu
(Leave heavy luggage in hotel and only take carry-on for the overnight at at Machu Picchu) After breakfast we will depart on a full-day excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The Sacred Valley of the Incas is so named because of the reverence they felt for this area. With towering mountains on both sides, and scores of ruins, it is an interesting place to visit. We begin our tour of the sacred valley by visiting the famous Pisaq Indian Market as well as the ruins. We then have a buffet lunch and continue on to the Incan fortress of Ollantaytambo which tradition has it that it was the “royal estate” of the Inca Pachacuteq, which probably accounts for the fine stonework seen everywhere. The train (which departs to Machu Picchu) will pick us up here at Ollantaytambo. We'll enjoy a 2 hour unforgettable train ride aboard the Vista Dome to Machu Picchu. The scenery changes from dry mountain valleys to a lush cloud forest environment, as you descend to Machu Picchu which is at about 7,000 feet above sea level, several thousand feet lower than Cusco. Around 5:00 pm we'll arrive at Aguas Calientes, the small town near Machu Picchu. We'll check into our hotel and enjoy a free evening in this charming town which exists to host the tourists visiting Machu Picchu. We’ll will overnight at Machu Picchu.(B/L/D)

Day 10:
Machu Picchu
Today will be the culmination of all the visits we have made and the civilizations we have studied. We’ll take a 20 minutes bus ride from our hotel and ascend to the Lost City of the Incas. Machu Picchu is displayed majestically atop a green, lush mountain with higher, foliage-covered mountains surrounding it. The site will NEVER leave your memory. It is simply one of the most awe-inspiring single landscapes anywhere in the world and was recently named one of the NEW 7 Wonders of the World! This Inca citadel is situated high in the Andes and surprising was never discovered by the Conquistadores. Our local guide will spend a couple of hours with us taking us through the ruins followed by time to enjoy the site on your own. After visiting this remarkable display of Inca ingenuity, we’ll have lunch and then go to our hotel. For those hardy and adventurous individuals, there is an optional early morning climb to the top of Wayna Picchu, an adjacent mountain overlooking the ruins.(Note: the climb is limited to only a certain number of hikers per day and must be arranged ahead of time. The trail is very difficult and should be only taken by experienced hikers).In the afternoon, we'll take a bus down the mountain and enjoy a late buffet lunch together while we wait for the train which departs at 3:00. We’ll be back in Cusco by 8:00 where we’ll have a light dinner. (B/L/D)

Day 11:
Cusco • Lima • USA
This morning you will take a return flight to Lima. You will enjoy some leisure time strolling around a typical Peruvian handicraft market to do some last minute shopping.After dinner, you will tranfer to the airport for your return flight to the U.S.A. (B/D)

Day 12:
Lima • USA
Your flight will leave a litte after mid-night. You will arrive in the U.S.A in the morning. After clearing customs, you will connect to your final destination flight and arrive in the afternoon, leaving behind wonderful memories and special experiences of your travel in Peru.
